Manifestos, maps and minimum viability: our first major demonstration

Thanks to all that came to our first major "sprint demonstration" on Thursday 23 February.

We've been on-site at UTS:Careers for four weeks, working with an ever-widening group of UTS staff and students, as well as interviewing employers, and we've begun to convert research into usable tools and interventions.

A sprint demo is really a show and tell of where the project is at the end of each fortnightly "sprint": the outputs of the goals we've set ourselves for that fortnight. For Sprint 2 (the first sprint that went beyond research) our goals were:

  1. to create the first draft of a manifesto that can act as an aspirational "founding document" of how all parties involved in internships at UTS believes they should work, and

  2. to make a map of all the players in the UTS internship ecosystem and the types of relationships they have, so that we can spot opportunities and possibilities.

I want to re-emphasise that with our participatory design approach, everything that we're creating is based on what different stakeholders are doing and experiencing on the ground, and built on the work that you're all doing. We'll continue to work this way throughout the project, and welcome your insights, ideas and feedback.

We'll be sending a survey to help us improve the draft of the Manifesto soon!
